“Roots & Routes” Launches: A New European Project for the Inclusion of Young Migrants

“Roots & Routes – Education and Inclusion for Young Migrants in Europe” officially launched on 15 April 2026. Funded by the Italian Youth Agency under the Erasmus+ programme, Action KA210-YOU, the project is coordinated by the POLIS Social Cooperative of Fano.

The project stems from the desire to strengthen the educational and social skills of organisations working with young migrants and foreign minors, promoting the exchange of experiences and best practices at the European level. Through training activities, international meetings, and opportunities for discussion among professionals, “Roots & Routes” aims to develop innovative tools and effective methodologies to promote the social inclusion, active participation, and well-being of young people with fewer opportunities.

The initiative is a collaboration between three European organisations united by their commitment to the education and social sectors. In addition to the POLIS Social Cooperative, which serves as the project’s lead partner, the Spanish association Asociación Iniciativa Internacional Joven (AIIJ) of Málaga, which has been active in youth mobility and European youth programmes for years, and the Portuguese association Associação Magnólia Method, which is committed to developing innovative pathways for non-formal education, inclusion, and personal growth, are participating.

The project’s main objectives include strengthening the skills of educational professionals, building a stable international network, and producing a multilingual e-book that will bring together the tools, methodologies, and experiences gained throughout the project.

The first online meeting between the partners took place in recent days — an important launch and coordination opportunity that allowed them to define the operational plan of activities, share objectives and responsibilities, and plan the next steps of the project.

First international meeting — Italy, June 2026

The first international meeting will take place from 15 to 19 June 2026 between Fano and Santa Maria dell’Arzilla, at the facilities and services managed by the POLIS Cooperative. Six representatives from the Spanish organisation and six from the Portuguese organisation will participate in the meeting, along with the Italian team, in workshops, study visits, and discussion sessions dedicated to educational practices and social inclusion processes.

The international meeting will be an important opportunity to consolidate collaboration between the partners, foster the exchange of expertise, and lay the foundation for subsequent activities to be carried out in Spain and Portugal during the project.
